Question: My address is not showing up on the map?
Answer: Double check to make sure you have entered your address correctly. The Address Search requires a house number, street name, and zip code in order to find your home. If you are still unable to find your address, try Zooming to your county then navigate to your home by panning and zooming. Some rural route addresses are not included in the address database.
Question: I don't understand what all the symbols and markings mean on the map?

Question: What if the Flood Risk Tool is not loading?
Answer: First, make sure your Internet browser is up to date. The PA Flood Risk Tool works in the following browsers: Firefox, Chrome, Safari, and Edge. Older versions of those browsers may have problems with the Flood Risk Tool. Second, try clearing your internet browser cache by clearing your search history. Depending on which browser you are using, the method of doing this will be different.
Question: Where does the information in the PA Flood Risk Tool come from?
Answer: The flood hazard zones and other flood features are derived from FEMA flood mapping products, including Effective Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map (DFIRM) overlays extracted from the National Flood Hazard Layer (NFHL), Preliminary DFIRM overlays provided by FEMA. Elevation values are taken from the USGS National Elevation Dataset (NED). Parcel data, where available is obtained from PA county governments.
Question: Once I find my house and see my report, what do I do?
Answer: If you have any questions about the information in your report or wish to find more information, you may want to contact the floodplain administrator for your county, the PA NFIP Program Manager, or the State Mitigation Officer. Here is a list of contacts:
